da Lagoinha
Poetic Moonlight...
The moon appears between the cliffs that surround
the lagoon, transforming this spot into a
romantic stage.
Unique and rugged, the whole area appears
to have been sculpted by the gods. The natural
lagoon, formed by the sea’s eroding
waves, and the abundance of cacti, give an
impression of natural energy, which many local
residents consider to be of great mystical
significance.
Lagoinha became famous as a venue for an open-air
concert by Caetano Veloso, held on a magnificent
moonlit night
How to Get There
Situated between the Praias de Foca and Ferradura.
Main access is via the Ferradura junction
(Esso service station) , or the road junction
at the Ale service station, both near the
centre of town.
General Information
Dangerous for bathing. At high tide, the waves
crash dramatically against the rocky walls.
Take care, because the rocks can be slippery.
